IHBB has run tournaments in Europe since the 2011-2012 school year. So far, tournaments have been held in France, England, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Slovenia, and Poland. Students and teams who finish in the top half in either the middle school, junior varsity, or varsity divisions at each tournament will qualify for our sixth annual European Championships, which will be held in Spring 2017. At the European Championships, students also have the opportunity to compete in at least two side events: the Geography Bee of Europe and the Sports & Entertainment History Bee of Europe; the latter of which features an Open Division for parents, teachers, and coaches as well. Depending on the hosting arrangements, we may also offer the Academic Bowl of Europe and a locally-themed history bee competition as well done in conjunction with a historical walking tour.
Note that for championship tournaments, students and schools in Africa and the Middle East can also opt to compete at IHBB’s European Division tournaments if they wish to.
